Biography

Dv8 was born in June 2003 from an idea by Stefano Maritan and Alessandro Brignone with the purpose of experimenting new solutions and sounds in electronic music.
They’ve both been active for a decade on the Cuneo scene, and come from very similiar artistic backgrounds: Maritan has worked on eletronic projects with various Milan bands (including D.O.A., The Decoders, Brainburger) and at the same time he keeps on producing non-compromising solo stuff and djing under the alias of Frostbyte.
Brignone has contributed sounds for bands who crossed electronic with a more rock-leaning attitude (amongst them, X-size, Exentia and Virtualdeva, the latter having also produced a CD for Vitaminic), has established DEC (Divisione Elettronico clandestina) with the aim of getting together electronic music artists and producers not only from Cuneo. Currently, along with developing his own cutting-edge productions, he’s busy with band “La Culla” and in various dj sets in the Cuneo area.
For the two producers, Dv8 represents a point of arrival where their various experiences mix up giving birth to tracks of pure electronics, electro rhythms, hip hop, microsounds and braindance melodies. As a matter of fact, their first work was a 7 track EP ranging from electro to glitch to vaguely “Warp” sounds. This CD was also appreciated by artists in the same field and producers like Marco Passarani of Nature Records and Betulla Records. Dv8 entered the latter’s rosters at the start of 2004.
Their live set is produced with laptops and other machines (synths, samplers, effects, etc.) and they are developing a visual arts project to combine with their gig in partrnership with various artists and photographers.
Amongst their most important dates in 2004 there are Bern’s CCCIV Convention, their performance at visual arts festival Eyejam and festival Encode.
At the moment they’re focusing on writing their first official album, under the supervision of their label managers Strek and Atzmo, and they have just finished their second EP soon to be released.
